Where nature and the arts share a home

West Little Rock has a peaceful place where a walk beside the water can be followed by an encounter with music, theater or art. Wildwood Park for the Arts, at 20919 Denny Road, combines a 105-acre natural setting with a nonprofit arts organization that has served Central Arkansas for decades.

A lake, gardens and room to slow down

At the center of Wildwood's landscape is Swan Lake, surrounded by green space, gardens and woodland scenery. Visitors come for a gentle outdoor break, time with family, photography, and the changing colors and textures of the seasons. For those who prefer a more relaxed destination than a steep mountain hike, the park offers an appealing alternative.

The story behind Wildwood

According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas, Wildwood grew out of the vision of Ann Chotard and the Arkansas Opera Theatre, which sought a permanent home for performing arts. Over time, the property evolved into a place where environmental conservation, education and cultural programming reinforce one another.

A special reason to visit this week

Wildwood's calendar lists Toast & Taste for Friday, November 6, 2026, inside the Cabe Festival Theatre. The ticketed event features food, beverage tastings, music and fundraising activities supporting the park's conservation and performing-arts mission. Because this is a special event rather than normal park access, check the organizer's current ticket information before making plans.

Everyday visits are different from events

According to Wildwood's official visitor information, general park admission is free on ordinary days, except festival weekends and certain holidays or special events. The grounds are normally open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until sunset, and Sunday from 1 p.m. until sunset, weather permitting. Dogs are welcome on leash, and Swan Lake allows catch-and-release fishing.

Plan your visit

Location: 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock, AR 72223. Parking is generally available inside the gates during normal operating hours. Visitors should consult the official visitor page for closures, special-event restrictions and any updates to access.

Whether you spend an hour admiring the lake or return for a performance, Wildwood is a reminder that Central Arkansas's outdoors and cultural life do not have to be separate adventures.
